A year ago I recieved a 72 Maverick for my 39 birthday. The body is in fair condition, but it had a sreaming 302 in it. I took it to my regular mechanic (big mistake). $1400.00 later I had all new brakes, hoses, chromemoly pushrods and guides, adjusted valves (68 heads) etc. The problem was that on the way home, the temperature skyrocketed and the engine was running terribly. My mechanic suggested I find a High performance mechanic, I did and he now has it camming perfect! He is now beefing up the c4 trans, installing a new torque converter with a higher stall speed, and building the rearend with 4.11 pos. The new mechanic told me I need to install sub frame stiffeners. Was there someone on this board that was selling prefabed stiffeners? Thanks, Bill P.S. They are starting on the 3/8 oval and 1/8 drag strip here in the little town of Lake Park, Ga.!
Lake park? Is that in henry county? Maybe I'm thinking of Lake City? Just curious, I'm in GA too, in Atlanta
Yes, Dan Starnes has some subframe connectors. I put a set on my car and they are very nice. He had a group buy and some of the buyers didn't come through. You can't beat the quality for the price. Search on this board (search button top right corner) and you will find info about them.
Lake Park is five miles from the Florida line, off I75. The next town is Dasher and then Valdosta (16 miles from the State Line). I will try the search again (problem is my com....pooter is so old it locks up every time I try). I went by the shop on my way home and saw the "perfect picture", my Maverick sitting next to a rail dragster! Made my heart pound! Where is my camera on these Kodak Moments?
oh Yeah, Lake City is the one in henry county, just southeast of atlanta. But either way, not too far. Good luck with the subframe connectors, I am interested in them as well I just had hoped to get some that were lower profile(hugged the bottom of the car closer, maybe with square steel stock instead of round)
