   did the Maverick use the same 3 speed transmission in both the I6 and V8 grabber in 1971-72?

   Yup, it was the same transmission in the whole Maverick / Comet production run. The only difference would be if it was a factory floor shift car. The tail shaft housing is cast with the threaded bolt holes to attach the shifter
