Im looking to finish my 302 buildup. I want to get roller rockers. I have checked out the Harland Sharp Roller Rockers and would like to know whether my aftermarket pushrods will work with them. They are hardened pushrods made by comp cams (magnum series) they are of stock length and will work with my head combo. My heads are 69 351W castings with screw in studs and guide plates so that part is taken care of. The screw in studs are 7/16 so that will be what i am getting. I would like information asap please... i know it sounds pushy and im not trying to be... just severely excited Kyle B.
The pushrods are ok as far a quality goes and probably length too but you should read up on rockerarm valve geometry to make sure the length is correct . Especially if your heads have been milled more than .015 -.020 "
I Believe i am in the clear. My heads were only milled .020". I received them today. As it turns out, my studs are actually 3/8.. so i get that fine luxury of sending these things back UPS. First time i've ever done something like this lol. Certainly won't be the last for i have many years ahead of me. Kyle B.
Just to be safe you might want to check your rocker to valve tip. I use plain old grease on the valve stem, then re-install the rocker and turn the motor my hand to make sure the push rod is not to short or to long. You can tell by removing the rocker after this and seeing if your rocker has left grease on both ends of the valve stem. In a perfect world the roller should stay pretty much in the middle of the stem. In the long run it's worth the extra 5 minutes it takes to do this. Hope this helps. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
