Has anyone found a good way to make the bench seat headrests any taller? I am 6'1" and with the headrest fully extended it really only reaches the bottom of my head. These were designed before all the distracted texting drivers were around, so it would be nice to have some better protection from a rear end collision. I did add a LED bar along the top of the window for a third brake light, that should help with avoidance. I was wondering if a modern head restraint from a donor Ford might have mounting posts of the same diameter and distance apart so it could be transplanted. I drove a Ford Edge rental this weekend and these actually looked like they might fit. Could then reupholster it to match. If anyone is interested, here is the link to the LED bar. It mounts real nice along the top of the window and has adjustable mounts to get the right angle. The self adhesive tape on it is poor quality, I replaced it with the black double sided gorilla tape. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BNESFCG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just went to the garage to take a look and your right that is a single flat bar. For some reason this weekend I was thinking it used two round shafts like the newer cars today do. Maybe I could do something like that by welding in a backing plate, although then I probably could not lower it through the seat opening. I wonder how that flat stock is attached inside the headrest?
