Ok guys here goes...i have finally got this car ready for paint...my paint and body guy is going to cut the cowl out and weld solid metal in and use a 2k primmer to seal the entire car and use a dupont paint...what color of paint do you recommend....the windows will also be a dark tint because of the Oklahoma heat....wife thinks a darker grey but im open to suggestions....any help would be greatly appriciated. I just am sooooo ready to drive this car....and no its not going to be a trailer queen.
what colors do you like? some people like lime green, i prefer blood red or black, some also like blue, theres even white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.
Click the "Gallery" button at the top and look at everyone elses paint. What'd it come from the factory as? If it was a decent color, Id keep original.
Covering the cowl grill won't stop water from getting into cabin. The floor of the cowl chamber is sealed to the body; the cowl vent cover ISN'T. Water can get in the chamber not only thru the grill but also thru drains from the windshield area and around the wiper posts. There's no seam sealer on the seams for the cowl cover. Cover up the grill and you'll reduce the amount of water getting on your floors but I bet you'll still get some.
ok its down to a deep color like candy apple red or a grey metallic......still dont know....origional color was blue light blue and that has to go.
Is your car going to be AIR CONDITION???? If not without a cowl vent and a dark color you and your WIFE are going to be in a SWEAT BOX with only 2/60 a/c .. I like the cowl vent for air flow around my feet and for days where a/c is not needed .. Just my thoughts Jay
dark tint is illegal here also but i am the police so i got that covered....lol no i will keep it legal...but my thoughts are if i dont wear a seatbelt i wont stop another car for it either..whats good for the goose..anyway i do appriciate the comments and ideas and am planning adding an aftermarket a/c...great news WE decided on a dark grey metallic..and because i compromised i am going to treat myself to new rims and tires....yea...as far as the cowl vent we are thinking of adding holes on the firewall for the vent maybe 2- 1" holes.
another reason for the cowl metal was i just wanted to add a little something different..have always loved muscle cars and am enjoying this mav...had a 71 chevelle ss before and sold it to pay bills, but this baby is going to stay with daddy..
71 GOLD thanks for supersizing the wife thing...now i guess im going to have to get a bigger motor..complex and all...lol
