I have a 9 inch out of a 58 ford car and I got the shock mount brackets from the donar car . the mount on the passenger side works but the driver side isn't gonna work for mounting my left side shock. can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can find new or used shock mounts that will work with the 9 inch in a maverick

Why can't you use the originals??? I assume it's a size issue??? I'm also guessing the '58 won't fit because of the staggered shocks... If so 4-Speed Cobra jet Torino & Mustangs used that setup(also Boss Stangs)... I'll also guess those use larger axle tubes than did '58 Fords...

the maverick mounts are too small and the 58 mounts are not staggered like the maverick mounts ,but does anyone know if i can just use to Rh mounts?

On mine I used Mustang mounts for an 8" since my car originally had the small 6-cylinder rear end with really small plates. Slotted the bolt holes in a milling machine for the wider u-bolts. Also the shock mounting ears weren't at quite the right angle so I cut about 3/4 of the way through them, bent them to the correct angle and welded.

I too have a '57 - 9" in the '72 car. Took a set of staggered 8" plates that either came from a '68 Cougar or possibly a V8 Maverick (long time ago - don't remember). Used a dremel tool to elongate the holes for the wider u-bolts and they bolted right up.

    Watch for shock absorber angle.

:slap: I took the easy way out and bought and installed a set of Lakewood traction bars. Two problems solved at the same time.
