Hello, I am wondering if anybody else has tried to recieve a "History 999 Report" about their Maverick from ford. I recieved mine today and I am a little puzzled about a couple of things on it. This is for my 76 Stallion, It says that it has "Black Leather Flight Bench Seats" as far as I know this car has always had bucket seats, and it doesn't say anything about a Stallion option, but it does say it has the "Youth Appearance Group", does anybody know if this is actually the Stallion option? Does someone else with a Stallion want to try to run theirs and see what comes up? here is a link to the page where I found out about it http://fomoco.com/index.asp?Dept=4&Tool=1&Page=8 Thanx, Jon
Thats a really neat site you found. I have a Stallion and will have to check it out. Mine has the bucket seats but my 77' Maverick came stock with the Flight Bench Seat option in black. I found the build sheet under the front seat and the interior option code for the seat is unlike any other I have seen in print. I have never seen another Maverick with that seat option. My guess is back then you could order a new Maverick with any option you wanted. If someone wanted a Stallion without bucket seats, they could special order it that way. I sent along a photo of the front seat of my 77' Maverick showing the Flight Bench seat.
That seat is interesting, never seen anything like in it in a Maverick Wonder what the History 999 would show for that one for seat option. That might also be the seat that my History was refering to as black leather flight bench, not sure. Also thought I should mention that the History 999 that I ordered took at least 2 months, maybe longer. Jon
I wanted to get production line report on my Stallion so I called Ford customer service in Dearborn. They ran my VIN and had their research people run their archives. In the letter they sent me, it was stated that it had the youth appearance group also. This must be what the Stallion option was called by them. I can't comment on the bucket seats as mine had a bench when it came off of the line. You may be interested in this. I have been trying to figure out how many Stallions may be left out there still on the road. I saw a car at a show recently and he had a statistic sheet from a company called Automotive Information Group out of California. They claim to be able to research how many of any car are still out there by state and national numbers, for a fee of course. I'm going to gamble and send in to them to see how many of our cars are left. Here in PA, I only know of mine and Jean's. I also only know of 3 or 4 others for sure, including your's, elsewhere. It would sure be cool to know how many out of the 5,529 made are left.
I was thinking that was refering to the Stallion group, but was unsure. Has anybody recieved their history for a car that they know is not a stallion, if youth appearance group shows up we know it isn't it. The Black leather Flight bench must have been an error in mine, I checked to trim code on the door jamb to see what it said, it is code LA, which according to my 75-76 Ford Shop manual says is Black Corinth Vinyl Low back buckets. I also wonder how many of the few Stallions that are left are equiped with 302 3spd like mine, it is my understanding that most V8 cars came equiped with Automatics. Jon.
I wonder if your shop manual would give the trim code name for my Flight Bench Seat. My seat is in a 77' Maverick so I'm not sure if the codes will be the same. My trim code is YA and I can't seem to trace it down anywhere. Someone once told me that the trim code for my car was supposed to be for a blue interior, but the car has always had a black interior from day one. I have also heard that Ford was quite good at making mistakes on the assembly line. I would love to find the real history behind our Stallion. The hardest part is the door jam sticker. Over the years water had seeped down behind the sticker and it started to rust making it darn near impossible to read. I would like to get a new sticker made up but would need to get all the information right. I have found another Stallion in a junkyard out in central PA. At one time it was black and red with a 250. It's real hard to get to because it was completely covered by thorn bushes. If I ever get out there again I'm taking hedge shears with me so I can try to see if it was a real one or not. It still had the Stallion decals on the fenders and had all the black mouldings. If I can get near it I will try to get the paint codes and the Vin no. from it.
Boo-hoo!! A red & black Stallion forgotten in the boneyard. It sends shivers down my spine. I wish it wasn't so far away or I'd go check it out too. The shop manual should have the proper trim codes. The codes on mine all are correct.
I did a 999 deal on my 70 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler,,, took about 2 months. Didnt learn anything I didnt already know, but did reinforce what I had. I am probably the only 1 owner Stallion owner out there and if not that I certainly am the only one out there that actually ordered his car. Took most of an afternoon to do it and the salesman was worn out. I wanted a 4 spd but said they werent available. I have since found out from Brent Mulvaney that it was an option but do not believe any left the factory that way. Mine too was a 302 3spd. I am told only 550 Stallions were produced with V8,,, the standard trans probably cuts that number in half. Rare cars. Dan
How did he know the 4-speed was an option? Because I have never seen any evidence that Mavericks ever had the option.
Checked shop manual, code YA isn't listed at all for 75 or 76. I did notice that the second letter of the code designates the color, all with A are black. I know of one Stallion (white 250 automatic) that was junked about 10 years ago, Also know that when shell was hauled in for scrap a different serial was used.
I got one of those 999 reports for my Sprint. It made no mention of the Sprint package. It did list most of the options that came with the Sprint package. I am probably the only 1 owner of a Sprint. They made 15,425 Sprints. I'll bet there is probably less than 5% left, if that. Its a shame.
Brent struck gold!!!!! Charlie,,, Brent Mulvaney struck gold recently. He purchased from a dealer the book that the sales staff used to order cars. He has the 76 Maverick book. He called me pronto and told me. I was a bit shocked but I had recently been told by another blue oval diehard that he remembered it was an option. Remember the Cobra II Stangs had a 302 with a 4 spd option.. had one of them too but sold it to get married.
i´m sorry about, but don´t know much about american Maverick´s story. Here in Brasil, in all prodution years (73-79), the maverick with v8 engines (302) comes default with 4 manual on the floor. Optional are the c4 auto with shifter on the stering collum Best regards Marco Antonio
