i wanted to go an try a Holley 4150 series Carb 650 CFM, Manual Choke, but i was wondering , wright now i am using , A Ford Drop base stock air cleaner over my edelbrock performer carb 600 cfm manual choke. i was wondering does a holley 4150 series, fit under a Ford drop base air cleaner cause it looks longer how the fuel bowl on each end an metering blocks of the 4150,series carbs. i not sure if ford had 2 difrent styles of 71 drop base air cleaners, one for 2 bbl,s an one for 4 bbl,s carbs, my drop base air cleaner fits on top of my edelbrock 1405 carb.

Depends on how much of a drop the base has. I have run a drop base with a 4150 with no problems.

I would guess no it won't fit unless you have some rare FORD version off an SCJ or Boss motor or other double pumper model of years past. Edelbrocks have waayyyy more clearance availability for the reason you mentioned.

Could buy an aftermaket or try another brand OEM if trying to stay somewhat stock looking. The old Chevy L-88 drop base style air filters were and still are some of the best flowing arrangements still being made/repopped. But hood clearance would be an entirely different matter altogether.

A better question to ask is what intake are you running now ? I fit 3x2's under the hood of my 77 Comet with the stock height oval air cleaner before I cut the hood and added a Boss-9 scoop then raised the carbs an inch and doubled the filter height (K&N) to put the air filter into the air stream in the front of the scoop. The factory 3x2 intake is a high rise intake, about the same height as a Performer RPM
