Hello Everyone, Does anyone know where I can get get hood hinges for a 71 Comet that have springs. I've seen them on a Blue Maverick when at the Ocean City Md show but the owner was not around the car for me to ask. I searched on the forum but did not find any reference to a replacement set ( like from a Mustang or other similar body car). As you know the hoods weigh a ton and I have a torn up shoulder and can barely lift it anymore. I was hoping to do the hinge replacement and be able to lift the hood with very little effort. Thanks for your input.
As you know, our Mav/Comets never came with hood hinge assist springs, like on early Mustangs, however there are aftermarket billet hood hinges that use gas charged struts, however they are very expensive! A couple of forum members have installed these struts on their hinges, do a search and something will come up!
