I've read a few threads way back mentioning these, but wanted to start a new one to see if anyone else collects these?
I have collected the original (late 60's-early 70's) redline Hot Wheels for the past 3 years now, and have a really nice collection of cars and track accessories. I used to collect the "new stuff" but will only buy these now. Soooooo, if you have any of these in your attics or basement, let me know! ;)

Here are the only 2 Mavericks I have now, but I do have one on the way (a more realistic color, lol) :p I will post it when it gets here.

Here is my display case with some other cars and accessories.

Wow!!! That is sooooooo cool!! I was too old when the Hot Wheels came out (born in 57) and was into motorcycles by then. But my little brother was of age and I bought him all those cars,, thanks for the memories. Some of that stuff is in my Mom's basement. We played with that stuff for hours. We still talk about it. Cool post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going over tomorrow and digging that stuff out.

LOL nope, not single anymore.......sighhhhhhhh

Thanks for the comments! Heheheh yeah I guess I'm hard core when it comes to these little toy cars :p
They are addictive and pleasing to the eye, AND I can play with them if I want! :D
I'm not as hard core as some others that collect them......some spend hundreds upon thousands for the dead mint or very rare cars. (I'm not kidding.)
The display case is great! Picked it up for $25 from a friend. It's probably from a department store, 70's era, and more than likely held jewelry at one time.

Maverick Man: I still want to get a Street Snorter, I love those bright enamel colors as well. Can you post a picture of your 2 older redlines?
I'll pass on the '95-'97 Hot Wheels :p you know why, because I have a box full of them myself......I also fell into the "buy new stuff" trap in the late 90's, now I'm stuck with them. I like to give them away to kids when I can.

Dan Starnes.....find what you can from your Mom's house and take some pics and post them on here if you want, I'd love to see what you have! :)

It's cool to hear that some of you remember these and played with them too.
I was a few years too young when they came out, but my brother is 3 years older than me and he had them so they were around our house.
In fact, I still have a long lost childhood survivor car that I found at my parents house a couple of years ago. This green "Sugar Caddy".

Here are the rest of my cars in my wall display case. Crappy picture, but you get the idea.

Thanks for letting me ramble! (y)

Sure wish I could have met you first, I could stare at your cars all day:D . I really like the side pipes too... Like everyone else I know, I wish I would have kept some of my old Hot Wheels also. I like the way you think, giving away them cars to kids. I used to do that at my kids bday parties. All the kids (and some parents) would get toys that went with the different themes like star wars or lion king. ramble ramble...

    Great collection Honey!(y)

Hi.......... lol j/k dont think I dont have a basment full of hot wheels too next to my box of star wars toys, next to my growing collection of comic books. Iam only 17 so the toys I had when I was a kid dont really have that kind of collectable value...yet. Its funny how I worked my way up the ladder from hot wheels, to model cars, to a go cart and finally a few "real" cars.

Used to have many of them.

I was born in '68, so unlike Dan, I was into these things.....
and then.......my little brother came along. I used to keep mine clean washing them in the kitchen sink....he liked spray painting them and tearing them up with pliers, screwdrivers, hammers and firecrackers. I might have 25 left if I'm lucky.

Nice collection. Looks like something out of an old magazine ad with that period correct display case.

My cousin is into the Evel Knievel collectibles. He's got a ton of it.

Your collection is absolutely awesome! I too wish I still had my old Wheels. A couple that I remember were a VW Bug with Blower sticking through the hood & one called a Silouette. They were great fun. I collect Antique Fishing Lures & more importantly Mavericks.:)
