Harbor freight is haveing a side walk sale. They have this a/c on sale for $140. http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/itemdisplay/displayItem.do?itemid=94667 That's $60 off. This will never be used professionally,. just as a hobbiest's tool. Does it have enough capacity to run most tools?
It will run anything you can throw at it. Only thing that might "stress it out" would be a sandblaster.
The harbor freight stuff is definitely not top-of-the-line, but their stuff is usually decent, and will get you through a couple years. Especially if you are a periodic user, and don't plan on running their stuff daily or as part of your job.
http://www.redhillsupply.com/air-co...age_URL=content/air-compressor-cfm-chart-info This will give you a general idea. My compressor at home is very similar and it runs my Ingersol impact no problem but not for an extended period of time. Die grinder the comp. wont keep up with on mine. I have a small tank though at 13 gallons. The 21 will be much better. It does the job for the little bit I use it at home.
Mine is 7 HP and 60 gallons, but not at all portable. AND wired 220. It keeps up with everything but a sandblaster. I have used a sandblaster on old pine furniture, and it worked, but I had to keep a couple of huge shop fans on it because it ran full time and the tank go too hot to touch. I probably pushed it WAY too far. but for nail guns, die grinders, impact wrenches, etc, it does fine. It will cycle periodically for a die grinder, but not dangerously so, like it does for sandblasting.
Yeah, now that you mention it, a DA would keep it working pretty good, if you don't use it in bursts. And who does?
I have a 30gal 3hp with 10cfm at 40 psi and 5cfm at 90 works ok.. but a da and a die grinder struggle... But its what I could afford and I deal with it... Buy it its a good deal...
Thanks for the input. I did go get it. Only thing I can tell about it right now is it has wheels and it's shiny.
