How do you take apart the dash? I was thinking about changing to a different guage setup but I am not sure how to remove the dash.

    How to remove the dash

If you really want to remove the whole dash, it involves taking out the windshield to get the last screws.

If you just want to remove the instrument cluster, then you only need a phillups screw driver to undo the two screws holding it at the top of the gauges.

Swing the top of the panel outward, and pick up on the bottom. There are two little metal tabs that fit into two slots in the dash, as the bottom of the panel. It should come right out. Beware that you need to disconnect the speedometer cable and the wiring connector before removing it.

So i push on the non-open side of the connector thingy that looks like it is holding the speedo cable in, and then pull out on the cable ?

    Sorry...haven't checked here in awhile!

If I understand what you are saying, yes that is what you want to do. I have found that sometimes this is easier said than done..there is not a lot of clearance behind the dash and you have to practically twist into a pretzel to get your arm in there from behind. You need to push the side while pulling the cable away from the speedo to remove it....

Yea I unhooked it, I sneezed and broke some of the dash but I think I can still make it work.

The clips that hold the speedo cable connector to the speedometer break easily, as I found out, the same is true for the clips that hold the wiring harness on, one of mine is broke and both the speedo cable clips are busted, old age plays a big part in it, I think my odometer might be broke too cause I haven't really seen it move but then again the car hasn't moved much.

I plan on changing to all digital dash gauges. I should be able to throw sumthing together no matter how broken it gets :D

    MavMark...

I was looking at the dash removal article, but couldn't find the "installing the other dash" article. Is it hidden somewhere?
