When I did the swap, I never changed the springs. is this ok or did 302 mavs have stiffer springs?
Also, I'm thinking of geting some new 4leaf leaf springs to get some hieght and fix my wheel hop. what are the cheapest reliable ones?

Good questions. I was just at a spring shop today and, take it for what it is worth, the owner told me that on the older cars, one is usually money ahead to go and buy the new ones. His prices to me were: $32.50 to re-arch each side (with springs off car) $79 plus shipping for new 3-leaf springs $82.50 plus shipping for new 4-leaf springs. Also, he said he could add-a-leaf to my old ones, but at that price, he would just replace them. Thats all I know, but I'll be watching to see what you find out. I think mavaholic had ordered some from springs and things (or something like that) online. just a thought

I still have the original 6 cyl springs in mine and I did the swap almost 30 years ago. Personally I like the ride better than with the stiffer V8 springs.

I know jcwhitney has 3 and 4 leaf springs for something like 120 or so plus shipping.

got straight 6 springs on all our mavericks. They ride better and give a better stance, IMO. That being said, I cut a coil and a half out of the turbo mav's springs, and heated the bracket mav's springs to lower the front. Both work flawlessly.

in response to the coil question... yes the 302 springs are a different part number according to my spring book at the parts store. when i drop in a 302 i probably won't change them though.

I lost about 1/2 of an inch of ride height by installing 6 cylinder springs and I would have to say you get a LITTLE better weight transfer with em on the track but thats about it .
