I bought a set of harland sharp roller rockers...

    and i put them on my studs (3/8") and i tightened them down to stock spec 69-70 351w ( i believe snug em, then 3/4 turn). I am not sure if this is right. I know a lot of fellow maverick fiends run these particular roller rockers on their 302's. I just need some advise as i am 18 and still kinda sorta new to this. I have installed stock rocker arms, but nothing this "flexible". I dont really understand why the mounting nuts have the hex hed set screws in them. Is it for adjustability? And also what is the proper way to install them (torque wise or other).

    Thanx guys, i know that my questions are probably getting extremely old, especially reguarding these roller rockers and i appreciate any response given.

    The allen head set screw is used to Lock the adjusting nut . they are commonly called "polylocks".
    To do this, first adjust the rocker arm by turning the engine over
    with a pull handle until the lifter is on the base circle of the cam (this means that the valve is all the way closed) . Now spin the pushrod between your thumb and forefinger while slowly tightening the adjusting nut until you feel a "drag " when spinning the pushrod. Now take a box end wrench and tighten the nut an additional 1/2 turn. While holding the nut still with the wrench,tighten the Allen head screw inside the nut firmly. this will result in the adjusting nut being locked in place.
    Now simply repeat this on all of the rockers. A chiltons or Haynes manual would provide you with a chart that will show crankshaft positions that will allow you to adjust several rocker arms while the engine is in one position to keep you from having to turn the engine over so many times .
