I washed my new Mav for the first time yesterday and the passenger side front floor got wet and the a/c duct under the dash. Do Mavs have the same problem Falcons and rustangs had at the cowl vent?

How hard is it to fix?

Unfortunatly, Mavs and Comets have that same problem. Also unfortunatly, it is quite expensive and a lot of work to fix them. Quite a few members on the board have successfully fixed them, and they can tell you more about it. Below is an attached link to a FAQ topic, written by Craig Selvey, about fixing the cowls. However, before you go ripping away, make sure that the cowls are the culprit. Is there a great quantity of water? Is you windshield leaking, perhaps? The easiest way to check the cowls are from under the dash. It may require you to remove the a/c box and related to be able to see what's going on. Try searching for cowl vent repair to find more info, too. Hope this helps, and I am hoping it's your windshield!:)

I'm glad you were the bearer of 'potentially' bad news, Corbin.

    I didn't wanna say anything. :(

Good luck with it, Bob. Maybe it's just a minor repair.

Yeah, I didn't really want to, but then I figured I might as well bite first. I would want to know as soon as possible about what may be occuring if it were me, so I figured Bob would as well. Best of luck!

Corbin & Rick, thanks for the info. Yea it was a lotta water. Top of the dash was dry. Didn't see any leaks there.

A/C duct on the right side was wet. I'll have to climb under and look further and check out the info you recomended. This was a local So.Cal. car with no rust any place so this came as a surprise.

May have a body shop friend just fill in the cowl vent and make the cowl smooth.

    Thanks again guys!

The story on the repair was enlightening. Oh boy do I have some work ahead of me. Well I hope it's not that bad. I'll investigate it this week end.
