up close and compleete of roll cages in mav's and comets Please.....gonna start soon on that aspect of my car and I would really appreciate it.
Robert, are you going for NHRA certification? I have some ties to some people with that kind of knowledge. Let me know. Dan
well........I think so if I ever get it done.........and if it go's that fast then I figured I might as well do it now.........Purple 70's car's cage is pretty close to NHRA guide lines...........but he keeps forgetting me.........and I want mine ran up by the windshield and notching the dash to clear........I have the tube.....and a bender just need some good looks for the right starting point.....my main concern is pictures of the roll bar......I figure thats the first piece i'll bend.....
Kinda cold down there to be working isnt it!!! I am fighting it here.....slowin me down. Best of luck. Jim
Just turned cold today Jim yesterday it was 74........today high 50.....first thing this morning........low 20 by tonight......and possible snow showers but I have heat in the barn.....and I have closed of an area 20' x 24' so it's easier to heat(tarps)
Now thats dedication!! I am just going to suffer in the cold.... If it gets to bad down there, you can use my cars engine compartment to store your motor and tranny.....
I`ll try to go out and take a few pics of my cage today and post them for ya. My car is 90% street driven and I took that into account when I had the cage built. The guy who did it is a certified Alston Chassis builder. and he and I decided what would best suit my needs. I didn`t want to have to twist , climb ,and squeeze my way into or out of the car ... I`m 6ft.1" and weigh 235 lbs. so we made it more "user friendly " Than a race only cage would have been. I kept my entire stock interior and retained full use of the back seat. The cross bar (the one that goes behind the backrest on the front seats) can be removed and stored in the trunk if I want to carry passengers.
M.A.V. I thank you.....and I had planned on making my cross bar removeable as well.....and going for the swing out door bars. and all I will say to your size M.A.V. is your a small fella ain't ya
Well I took some pics ...but it was already getting dark and flash pics of a black interior taken at night dont show up very well . So I will take some good ones and post them on Monday afternoon
Hi Robert; I'll try to borrow the digital camera from school and shoot a pic or two of my hoop and the two bars that run to the trunk. The guy that bent them for me did so with the goal of staying as close to the body as possible, and to hide them behind the roof pillar and sail panels. They came out darn near invisible from outside. I plan on adding bars running from the hood, parallel to the floor at about the level of the seat cushion, then turning down to the front floorboards. Not N.H.R.A. legal, but I don't plan on dragging it, so the added structural rigidity and side impact protection afforde by the side bars is good enough fro me. John B.
