Can a 250 six and C-4 tranny be shoehorned into a Mav at the same time? Soneone's website had a picture of a Ford assembly line showing this being done. I know you'd have to get the motor way up in the air so the tranny could be tilted down enough to clear the firewall.

Figure I'd need two other people, one to lower the cherry picker arm, one to guide the engine, and another to tilt the tranny down.

    Anyone ever done this? Thanks.

I did it with a 302 and c-4 . Took the fan off, left water pump on. Had my son grab the end of the tranny to guide it in. Went in with no problem. Also did a 200 ci. the same way, its Just a matter of moving the motor in lowering it, move it in a bit, lower a little more ect. ect. ect... Crawl under the car and guide the tranny the rest of the way!

    Hope this helps!

Tom, if you have power steering it is much more difficult. You may want to drop the slave cylinder if you have PS

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm adding power steering, so I'll just leave the ram disconnected until the motor is bolted down.

I've done it several times, taking a 6 cyl out and putting a 302 in with the tranny attached. Even on cars with power steering I didn't have much trouble as long as you are careful to guide the trans over it. Like Mark said, lower it a little, move it back, lower it a little move it back, until it is in.
