Get a 4 channel amp, mount it under the dash.
Get a Sansa MP3 player. (very small, like iPod. Has an FM tuner built in)
Mine holds almost 300 songs. My son has one that holds 600.

Run front and rear speakers off the hidden amp.
Run a line under the carpet to your console to plug your MP3 player into.
That line is the input to your amp of course.

Now all the power is from a hidden amp, and the MP3 player is essentially a tiny portable head unit.

If you want a sub out back, your amp should have an RCA outlet to run pre-amp signal to another sub amp in the trunk.

The rear deck of your car has holes for 6x9s.
The front kick panels have an outline of the stock grille on the inside part.
They use grilles that were in MANY FoMoCo vehicles.
So your front speakers can go in the kicks. You cut the outline on them, and pick up stock grilles from a boneyard.
I also found (from this site I think, but I confirmed it myself) that some AMC and Jeep vehicles use the exact same grilles. Probably same supplier.

I just came inside from doing the same thing. I can’t figure out the wiring.

I put the power wire from the cd player to a fuse in the dash, the ground to a mounting screw under the dash. I can’t get it to work. Any suggestions??

With this setup, will the factory in dash radio still function? and how much does the MP3 player cost?
