I'm working on adding an additional fuse box next to the one under the steering wheel column to use for accessories. The factory fuse box doesn't include the accessory stud. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the electrical stuff, but my current thinking from other discussions I've researched here is to run off the battery with an 8 ga wire, maxi fused at the battery at 40 amps, to a 40 amp relay under the dash (or to a 1/4" distribution stud and then to relay) and from there to the new 6 circuit fuse box. If I understand correctly, the wire I need to switch the relay is the black wire with green "stripes" in the ignition harness pictured below: Is the blk/grn wire pictured the one I need to tie into? Is this the correct spot to cut and splice in to that wire? Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not really sure at all what to do now. It's been my primary goal to do everything as correct as possible where, time & money allow. That's why I've flat out refused to simply splice in to any random keyed circuit like the power on the radio. I'm ok trying to fabricate something, but my lack of experience is against me here. I don't have easy access to the needed parts or tools. Searching online at local parts stores, I can't locate the fuse holder clip thingies. Not sure where to get the copper plate yet, but haven't searched much. And I don't have a rivet gun. If I could buy the part at a reasonable cost I would, but I think when I looked a little while back it was over $50. I think that was from a Mustang. Can't seem to find those links now... Like I said, I do want to be as correct as possible, but those options seem like a lot of time & money for what I'm trying to accomplish, especially if can get close to correct tying in somewhere like the ignition or fuse panel... Thanks for the replies on this. I finally had time to get it finished up... Well, it can use a good bit of touching up. I ended up splicing in to the accessory wire where it goes in to the factory fuse box. Not perfect but it seems a good compromise given that I still have a lot to learn and very limited resources.
