just wondering...does a driveshaft have a front and back. I have mine out, the U joints and yoke have been removed and will be replaced with new. I've heard about putting one back like it came out and I'm thinking that's if you haven't disassembled it.
I was told today if one has weights on it put the weights towards the rear...

    Hi Frank,
It's my understanding that the factory driveshaft is balanced as A unit(shaft + slip yoke).
If the u joint is replaced in the front, the yoke and shaft should be clocked the same, and the yoke put back on the same end to preserve the balance.
Changing the yoke means starting over for balance anyway.
I have shafts with the balance weight at the front, and some with weight at the rear, and some with weight at both ends.
