I have a 79 302 motor that was fuel injected. Can I use a intake manifold from a 1972 motor? There is no passage for water in the rear of the manifold, but I don't know if there was in the EFI manifold or not.

    Thanks

I am not aware of any 1979 302's that were fuel injected. Is this a typo? If you possibly meant 1989, the heads are different enough to make me say you probably wouldnt have much luck with a 72 vintage intake manifold.

Dan, I would have to say that it would work. I had a ranger with an 86 HO must engine in it and I had a non egr edelbrock intake on it which would be the same as an early model intake.

I would think this must be a 2v intake, if so I would look for a 4v intake and carb, unless you already have this set up and just want to run it becuase you have it.

P.S. they only have a water crossover in the front.

Ward, you might be on to something there. I do recall talking to a dude at the track who put a 4v intake and carb on an 87 Stang 5.0 . I have a 88 stang gt and a 87 EFI motor out in the garage, and have never really touched either one.

I did have a buddy once who had a 79 bronco with a 4 bbl and carb, and he wanted a 2 bbl carb and intake I had (both were 302's)

My 2 bbl intake/carb didn't work with his 302 for some reason, guess the intake ports or something were different.

If what you do does not work, you may need to buy an intake designed specifically for the injected 302's that are designed for a carb

There is no problem with performing that swap whether the water jackets exist or not. A lot of your vintage performance intakes completely block off those water jackets & don't even use them. The Bud Moore Mini-plenum & Cross Boss intakes both don't utilize water jackets. The purpose of these water jackets was not to circulate the water, but help bring the induction system up to operating temperature for better driveabilty. The reason high performance intakes block off these jackets is to cool the air & fuel for increased horsepower. Hope this helps.

You sure it was a 302? The 79 Bronco only came with the 351/400 M motor.
