    sweet!

    That looks great!
Would you go into detail about fitting those seats in?
Some close up pics of the mounting location and mods would be great.
    Good job.

    Yes, details please!

It looks like you have the same seats I am trying to install in my 76. I am having fits with the passenger side hump. Is this hump in all cars or just the bench seat versions or new models (looks like it is there for cat or muffler space)? My problem is that if I try to mount the seat at the height required to clear the hump the, the drivers seat will almost hit the steering wheel when I try to get it the same height at the passenger side. Any tips out their?

Thanks for all the compliments and for all you wondering I put up a post a while ago about the seats... there from a 87? (the first body style) Mitsubishi Eclipes, Plymouth Lasers, Eagle Talons... the tracks fit right into my 72 (just plain flat tracks) so all we had to do was drill new holes and they were done... I'll try to get some detail pics later.

Early cars must not have the hump on the passenger side. Will a sledge hammer fix this hump situation???? It is really screwing up my plans to mount these seats.

jpollard, from what I have read, starting in 75' they started to put catalytic converters in the Mavericks/Comets. Not all 75's had them, but all 76's and up had them . . . thus the hump in your passenger side floor pan. Ideally you need to find some bucket seat tracks off a Maverick/Comet that had catalytic converter so they tracks will match the shape of the floor pan. Otherwise it sounds like you may have to do some fabrication work. Others here may have some suggestions for you in that regard. Good luck and let us know how you make out!

ADC_72Maverick, I would like to see some of those detail pics of the tracks that you installed. Thanks! :)

    another thought

jpollard, as I discovered last weekend the outside frame on the passenger bucket from a catalytic car is raised higher than the inside frame of the passenger seat to accomodate the hump in the floor. So, the tracks and frame are different than a pre-cat. car. I hope this helps give you a better understanding of what you are up against.

    Cat. hump

Ok....I am going to try something that might be a little radical...Let me know if I am crazy! I am going to try and heat the cat hump up and mold it into the shape I need to match the other side. I figure this will be the easiest route and still get the results I need. If this does not work, I am going to cut out the floor of a non-cat car and weld it in. I really dislike this hump!!! It raises my seats way to high. I am installing the exact same seats as you did. Drivers seat was not a problem.

    mounting specs

The inner front mounting pad on the frame is about 1.25" lower than the outer front, and the inner rear is about 1.5" lower than the outer rear pad. So you need spacers correspondingly thick at those inner locations (for both seats, the difference between inner and outer is the same on both sides). The other important dimensions are that the seat tracks need to be 13" from inner to outer, which the Mitsu seats have. The front mounting holes (inner and outer) are 12" from the rears, so I drilled a new hole 12" from the rear mounting holes in the Mitsu tracks. This leaves about 6" of track hanging out in space at the front of the seat, which can be trimmed off but it's no fun to cut that steel. The spacers need to be 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" square tubing about 2" - 3" long for best stability

Some picks will come soon hopefully but I need to remount them.

Hope this helps ask me if you have any more questions.
