I have a 77 and recently came across an opportunity to get a 74 that has a cherry interior but lots of rust. My 77 interior could use some work. So my question is, can you move all of the interior from a 74 to a 77?
Everything should be interchangeable as long as they are both either a 2 door or a 4 door. The only thing that might be touchy would be the headliner. The stitching tends to dry-rot and it could seperate. If the doner car has bucket seats and your car has a bench seat I think you will have to drill new holes for the seat brackets.
interior ?s when we changed from a banch to bucket we only needed to drill two more hole in the floor. there should be holes in the carpet already. we used them as guides as for the rest of the interior its all interchangeable
Here are the differences in the interiors that I have noticed through the years. 70 & 71 are identical so all parts will interchange. In 72 the rear seat belts came up through the side panels. The panels are flaired out for the retract mechanism and the rear seat is tapered to fit around them. The front remained unchanged. 73 seemed to be a transition year. In some, the package tray was replaced with the glove box and lower dash panel. Also, some had the interior door handles moved to the lower front of the door panels. I have heard some 72's had this door handle too. Everything else stayed the same. In 74 Ford went to the 1 piece shoulder harness so the rear side panel was flaired out at the front, down by the floor sill to blend in with the retract mechanism. They also had catalitic converters so if your looking at buckets, the passenger inside track will be different. The only difference in the rest of the years was in 76 they went to a foot operated emergency brake and the fuse panel was moved where the brake handle used to be. I'm sure there are more but this is a good guidline to see what will fit what.
