I have a Lincoln electric flux core mig that has the high/low 1/2 settings and it's supposed to be able to weld 1/8" steel... is this welder good enough for suspension work? I've been thinking about reworking my upper and lower control arms (like what this guy did http://budgetrestomod.weebly.com/suspension-brakes.html ) and eventually modding my rear to either a 4 link or installing a IRS either from a 2003+ mustang cobra or thunderbird... Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

    I wouldn't and didn't. I borrowed a 220 Amp mig.

I did a whole lot with my Lincoln MIG PAK10 using flux-core back in the day. I wanted to weld the world shut!

Now that I have Argon in a comparable machine, there's no comparison. I still have my Flux-core machine for farming implements and general "don't waste gas on it" projects.

I wouldn't chance it on suspension work. You will need a good sized welder to burn in stuff for a 4-link. Does your machine weld 1/8" in a single pass?

I would go with argon, and save the flux-core for your shovels.
