I am talking about behind the door insert in the metal part of the door? I thought if you looked behind the inner door panel there is a round opening for a speaker to be mounted. Now this is going on my 38 year old memory here. Ithought I remembered those openings in my Dad's 72 but I also thought I remembered that they were not in the doors of my 1970. But my 1970 V8 conversion had 4 inch round speakers in the lower forward corner of the door also, but those doors I believe came off of a 72 Comet. Does anyone know if there is an opening in the metal part of the door behind the inner door panel fo a circular speaker on Mavericks after the 70 model year
There are holes ... but definitely not speaker holes ... Mavericks never had speakers in the doors from the factory.
It's behind the kick panel, but not on early years. Don't know when they started putting them there. My 71 don't have them, but my 77 does.
I really didn't like the ones that I had in the kick panels on the 70 six cyl. I had. Seemed like I was always mashing the speaker grill up with my big feet. That is why I eventually cut holes in the metal in the door and put them in the door panels. But I gess if I mounted them behind the kick panels and drilled holes for the sound to come through it would be ok. Thanks for the info
