Well the mav is finally done! The engine was nicely rebuilt by some people who I would trust my most prized posessions (sp?) to and with only a few hitches the baby is home in the garage. I would like to thank everyone on this board that has helped me in the past two years! I have gotten some really great advice and ideas about what to do. I will give you a quick run down on the new and improved mav rebuilt V-8 with mustang heads (ughhh), new edelbrock performer 2 intake, and a matching edelbrock 650cfm carb, and the finishing touch heddmen headders. And let me say one thing those headers are a B*&^#H to get on, even with the bracket (could be cause I already have an 8 cylinder in a 6 cylinder body. I can't wait to break it in. Only a few hundred more miles till I can take her to the track and see what she will turn in the 1/4 mile. Last time on a bad day, in semi-high altitude almost 3200 feet with a broken engine (and later to find out one split motor mount, that's where that wierd noise was coming from!) I ran an 18.0 flat. I'm hoping for at least a 16.2! We'll see, wish me luck! Now I get to start on the interior. Thanks again for all of your help!

Headers are just "missed understood" I've found the best way to make them easy to install, Other then have someone else do it, is to test bolt them to the heads. To many times the bolt holes are a little off and the do test your grit when it comes time to put them on.
Before you do some track time, make sure your brakes are up to the test also. Ain't no fun if you can't stop too.

Not to insult, but an 18 flat is slower than my brothers old escort.(obviously because you were broken)

I was at pomona drag strip about 2 years ago and saw a mav clicking off 14.7's. I was excited, and rushed up to him after his run to see what he had done. I hearby swear on everything worth in this world, that he was bone stock, with that original 2 bbl carb. I just about went off my rockers, because my beloved "5.0" stang just clicked off a 15.3.

You sound like you have quite an awesome combo now, with the right tuning, right traction, etc, late 13's are a possibility.

Have fun, and let us know what you run, and send those pics!
