They have been around for a long time. I would not believe the 400 watt rating though.

Yes Jensen is a good brand.

If these are those Jensen 400watts "Power Plus" speakers, then the rated power is 40watts each. Which is still a good amount if your HU puts out enough power to push em. Enjoy :thumbs2:

As far as speakers go.....Jensen would be on the near bottom of my list, only slightly above Sparkomatic speakers.

Don't trust "peak" power ratings.....RMS wattage is what you want to look at.

Lots of good info can be found at: www.crutchfield.com

I have had jensens before in a bronco, was very happy with them. I had JVC's in a geo prizm and those were great.

I have a Jensen CD player that just won't die.
It's not top of the line by any means, but it gets the job done and has great sound and reception.

It was given to me, and I've had it in 3 different vehicles. It's currently in my Safari now as it had no radio when I purchased it.

As far as the speakers, they are pretty decent, but I wouldn't say they are right above sparkomatic like Craig said. I actually have ran cheap speakers that sounded decent. When I went to sell a car once, I paid $100 for 4 speakers and a radio at walmart. The brand was "Lightning Audio" I threw the CD player in it and sold the car. The speakers sat in the garage forever. One of the Kenwoods was blown in the dash of the safari so I swapped it out w/ one of those just for the time being and it sounds pretty good and I'll leave it in there.

Now when you get to brands like Roadmaster and brands from dollar store type places, that is when you don't bother.

Jensen's are quality products and will last you quite a long time. It's not my preference to run them at all but for a everyday driver that you want decent sound out of then they are just what the Dr ordered.

Well, they sell them at Wallmart so you know that they are not top of the line. But they get the job done and will continue to do so as long as you keep garbage out of them and they are mounted securely. There is nothing wrong with them at all, just don't hit them with too much wattage and they will be fine.

While this maybe used to be true, I'd disagree now to an extent.

Walmart also sells Sony amps and speakers and the two 12's and the 1200 watt amp I had sounded alot better than some of the other brands I've owned. The MTX speakers I had were about the same as my Sonys in clarity and boom for the $$.

Personally I wouldn't sing the praises of Sony hardware too loudly either. I am by no means one of those cork-sniffing audiophile types, but the Sony Xplod 6x9's in my car were trash compared to the (still relatively cheap) Blaupunkts I replaced them with recently. I've also had loads of trouble with the last Sony head unit I bought, and eventually the tuner went out.

Ive never had a sony head unit, but don't like them by the looks.

The 12's I had were very nice, and like I said out performed most speakers I've had in the past, and I've had some nice systems.

I've had JVC, MTX, Crunch, Sony, Kenwood, etc and really liked those 12's more than anything else... Either way, it's a name brand product, not some off the wall garbage that you find at dollar stores

I have had two Jensen 6x9s in my car for almost 3 years now. They now serve as my front speakers now that I got some Blaupunkts lol The speakers sound good, although I DID blow one..
