5 days ago I picked up my first Mav. :D I love this car. It has good style and can still be had for a fair price unlike some of the more famous Fords. Mine is a 69.5. I think this because it has the dash mounted ignition switch instead of the column switch. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that only the early 69.5's had those in 70 they had a column mounted switch. Got great plans for her now. She doesn't have a spot of rust or even a dent so paint and body work should be easy. The interior is toast so I will have to rebuild it completely. I plan to put in a 302 so I am looking for V8 frame and motor mounts so any help would be appreciated.

Just wanted to say Hi cause I am one of the new guys on the message board, but so far it looks like this is a really good groupl of people who really know their cars and love them.

Welcome to the board!! You are correct, these folks are about as good a bunch as you could find. Sounds like you have a really good find in your Mav. I also have a 69.5, with the dash mounted switch, and they are quite a good car. I put a 302 in mine 2yrs ago, and it is the best mod you can make. The next thing should be the disc brakes. Makes a world of difference. Just keep at it, and if we can help, all you have to do is ask. Take care,

    Earl

    Earl you got that right!

With a out question, the 302 mod is the best. Now please don't take me wrong there is nothing wrong with any of the inline 6's that ford put into this classic and beautiful cars.
I just love the sound and power of the V8, I've never had a Maverick that didn't have PB so I will take your word on that one Earl.
Congrads to you 691/2 Mav on your first Mav and I hope you come to love your car like so many other Maverick owner love theirs.
