Just when I thought I knew it all about Mavericks/Comets, I learned something new. I took this part off of a 1977 Ford Maverick 2-door made in Canada. It is the rear quarter extension, both upper and lower, in ONE PIECE!!! I have NEVER seen this before. I at first thought somebody had customized the car and just molded them together, but after removal I found out it was just one piece. Has anybody else ever seen this??
That's Wild! I wonder if it's like the last-minute change to the hood support. If the Maverick line had continued they might have made them that way from then on?
With yours being 4-doors Doug....that doesn't surprise me. This would be a two-door only part. I know I have dissassembled other 2-door 1977's and not seen this. Anybody else with a 1977 2-door that has these or has the two piece design?
Selvey... My '74 that now has '73 bumbers had some light surface rust along the rear panel where that part fits under the taillights. It was warped pretty bad as well making water sit against the panel, maybe that is why they changed it. Seth
