I lost the kick down lever for the trans. on my '76 when I made the swap for a 3 speed to a C-4. Can someone desribe what it looks like so I can search the wrecking yards for one. Thanks, Mike

Actually, I have the kick down rod, I'm looking for a picture of a kick down lever that attaches to the shifter. I think it was curved?

Went to the scrap yard the other day and looked at all the C4's in the pile, seems there are several different ones for different applications. The most common was the Z shaped one and then the Curved or boomerang style. I would get one of each and see if your rod will attach correctly, or just put the shift lever into 2nd when you want to pass or down shift for more power. Have manual valve bodies and floor shifts in all my Mav's except the 73 4dr, six cyl. been to hot to uncover it and look under to see what it's got. Let me know if you want me to look, will maybe talk one of the siblings into doing it.

    Kickdown cable a possibility?

    White,

When I made my I-6 to V-8 swap I simply ordered a kickdown cable assembly from Lokar and it definitely looks better than the kickdown rod, works like a charm. It was about $16.00 if I remember correctly.

    Hope this helps!

the lever is shaped like a C basically...one one end is a hole for it to bolt to tranny shaft, the other end has a small nipple that the kickdown shaft goes over. a clip attaches it the the shaft..

    Damned these image size limits!

I have a complete scanned image of the entire steering column/shift linkage assembly to help identify your part but I cannot upload it here because it is 107kb (max compression) and the max allowed is 100kb!

Would have liked to help but...

Thanks for all of the help!

I found one in the Maverick grave yard. It was from a '76 w/ a 250, so I know it was right. It actually was shaped like a sideways Z. Works fine.
