I have a 70, just got a grabber spoiler. I used the search to find some advice on using the studs from the spoiler to mark where to drill, and drilling 1" holes. My only question is do you drill on the peak of the trunk lid, leaving a hole that is 1/2 on the top and 1/2 on the rear? Anyone have a photo of a trunk lid with the holes so i can see?

You are correct, just center punch them on the peak

I wish there was a tech article on how to align these spoilers once installed. I drilled my holes where its recommended and the left side doesn't fit right. Maybe I have a bad spoiler, it was that way on 2 different trunks.

Mine doesn't line up that well, either. It's a good 1/4" out (too high) on the passeneger side for sure. My spoiler has been sitting like this since September... 1970! :biglaugh:

Yep that's about like mine. 1/4" or more too high on the left side. I even tried enlarging the holes some with a rat tail file. Didn't help.

is it not fitting tight to the trunk lip on that side?
I know with any tension on the lift spring, my lid would set higher on the left side.

The trunk is adjusted fine now, it's just the spoiler. I loosened it up and tried to move it down, then it didn't align with the qtr. extension. Maybe the spoiler is warped?? I'm going to adjust on it some more later.

These cars are Mavericks....not Mercedes-Benz. There will be some alignment issues. :D

ALIGN IT AS GOOD AS YOU CAN GRIND A LITTLE ON THE TRUNK LID IF TOO HIGH AND A LITTLE USE OF FILLER WORKS WONDERS IT HELPS TO BE PART BLACKSMITH WHEN WORKING ON OLD CARS:rofl2:

I know this is an old thread, but I'm about to do this myself on a 1977. I also need to replace the side pieces, so any advise on those would be appreciated. The mold I bought actually has the wing piece on the bottom as part of the mold, but I also have those individually so it may be better top cut those molded ones off and use the real ones. Again, any advice is welcome.
