:( Well it had to happen, my son who knows more than me put the lug key for his locking lugnuts in his tool box instead of his glove box. He left the tool box in the back of a friends pickup and it got stolen. He is running Keystone classic wheels, how can he get the lugs off with out destroying the wheels...they fit very close. Should I say I told you so or just grin nervously? Any ideas guys...Jim:slap:

If you have the package, or at least know what brand they are, you can go to the parts store and look through them until you find a match. That's what I had to do when I broke one of my locks a week after I bought them. There are only a handful of unique keys for the ones I bought. After that, a carbide cutter in a Dremel cuts pretty darn fast. :)

Sears sells a remover for sripped lugnuts and such, it's like an easyout for nuts, looks like a socket with a reverse "thread" in it, I've heard good things about them, but never tried one myself

Any tire store should be able to get it off for you....as they have a tool to do just that.

Carefully tack weld a regular lug nut to the end of the locking lug, then take it off with a lugwrench.

A good future idea is, Get a small container (plastic with lid) that will hold both wheel lock, registration, and insurance card! You need all three for state inspection and your garage will thank you for all! Garages hate them locks, mostly cause owners never have the key with them. Good luck.

This is provided they were not over torqued. Some of the tools only grip so good depending on the style lock. Hammering a socket over them sometimes works or just makes it harder to get them off after deforming them. The reverse twist sockets work great if there is room. They tend to be a thick socket. tap them down with a hammer for better bite.

MAV's idea works the best when there is room. Welding another lug nut to them works great. Two beads small beads should do the trick. The heat helps it back off some for over torqued/been on to long lugnuts. Also Ground directly to the nut being welded on to the lock or you may ruin the finish on the rim.

    Good Luck.

Having lost more keys over the years than I care to tell, Discount Tire has always pulled out a "kit" of lug keys and removed the locking lugs for me.

    I'd try them first. :2cents:
