Ok all you tech guys! Here's a question for you.... I have a 73 Comet and it has the original manifolds on it. If I put an HO 302 out of my husbands 87 Mustang in the car, can I use the shorty headers out of the Mustang or will they fit between the shock towers on the Comet. And still be able to get to the spark plugs! I mean, they are a pain enough to get to without making it harder on myself.

Has anyone done this with the shorty headers off of a Mustang? If so, can you please post a picture? I would love to see how it is done without cutting the shock towers. My husband says that I won't be able to do it with the shortys and that I'll have to either use the original manifolds or go with long tube headers.

Thanks in advance for any info!:tiphat:

Nope, someone tried them once a long time ago and the collector didnt fit, also one of the tubes was hitting the steering box. If you want shorties, get a pair of Hedman 88400. Or if you have funds go for the Doug Thorley shorties. They have bigger tubes, their coated, and they were designed by a member on here.

Awesome!! I have Hedman's that came off of my Husband's Mustang! But, I don't know if they are the 88400. How can I tell?

They should have a part number on them. If not google "hedman 88400" and the images will pop up, then just compare.

Mustang shorties will NOT fit a Maverick.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll check into the Hedman 8400's. That's not what I have. The ones I have are twisted. I was just hoping not to have to search around for some headers. But, I do like the Doug Thorley shorties, Maverick75! Thanks for the information! That really does help me a lot!

Another header used by many on here is Hooker 6901.:)
