I'M JUST PASSING ON INFO HERE, BUT I SAW ON EBAY THAT OHIO MUSTANG SUPPLY (440-949-2556) HAS REPO OF THE CENTER CAPS FOR THE FACTORY ALUMINUM MAG WHEELS. THEY DO HAVE A RED MUSTANG EMBLEM IN IT FOR THE 73 MUSTANG WHICH IS WHY IT WAS REPOED ANY WAY. NOW I'M SURE THEY COULD BE TAKEN OUT & INSERT A MAVERICK EMBLEM FROM CRAIG OR A COMET EMBLEM FROM DAN & OFF YOU GO!
I DON'T KNOW IF THEY ARE METAL OR CHROMED PLASTIC, BUT THEY DO COST $43 EA, THE QUALITY LOOKS GOOD BUT WHO KNOWS REALLY. CHECK IT OUT ON EBAY UNDER "73 MUSTANG ALUMINUM CENTER CAP, RED" ENDS IN 3 DAYS. MAYBE YOU GUYS ALREADY KNOW THIS, BUT IF NOT CHECK IT OUT. :tiphat:

    So here's the question...

If those are Ford licensed reproductions, they should be contructed more or less the same as the originals. So, wouldn't it be better (better = cheaper and much nicer looking) just to buy these Mustang centers and then to remove the plastic centers and to replace them with Maverick centers?

Wasn't there somebody on here who was selling some copies of these plastic centers? I'd sure appreciate it if somebody could drop me a line and tell me who that was.

I just can't make myself pay more than 50 bucks for a center cap. It always shocks me when I see people paying $100 for NOS gas caps on ebay.

    Thanks for any info!

I am the one selling the center cap decals for a Maverick.

My apologies if this has been asked a thousand times already.

Has anybody bought the 73 Mustang repro center caps and removed the Mustang logo and then used Craig's decals? I'm trying to see if anybody tried it and then how it turned out.

I can't see the underside of the 73 Mustang repro center caps, but I assume they are constructed exactly the same as they were originally? Does anybody know for sure?

Thanks for any information that anyone can share.

I don't think the emblem can be removed. All I have is NOS one's, but I've looked at the reproductions, they usually sell for around $45/each, So I just spent $100+/ea on correct NOS ones. I once scored 4 NOS ones for $125....

Here is a link to the decals that dmhines was selling a few years ago.
I don't know the history of how these decals were made over the years but it appears that there were at least 3 different versions of these decals that were produced.

Are Craig's decals comparable to these shown in the link?

I think it's about time to produce a decal for the gas cap.
You may put me down for 2 so long as the unit cost is under 10 dollars.
