Hello! I'm new here, but a longtime admirer of Comets. Never owned one though :( I thought you all might be interested to know Brad Crumley from Crow Mountain, TN brought a beautiful orange '71 Maverick to Year One's Bristol Bash a few weeks back and it looks like the car may make it into the event coverage for Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. He said he was running 11.60s pretty consistently with it.

My best friend has a beautiful '71 Comet GT with a blown 302, but he never takes it out of the garage. Any suggestions on how I can convince him to bring it out? He chromed virtually everything under the hood  What's the biggest gathering of Comets/Mavericks? Maybe I can talk him into bringing it to an event next year. Thanks!

    Jim

Probably the biggest gathering of mavs and comets would be the anual MCCI round up held in New Castle Indiana... the date is july24-27 2003 Craig Selvey is the president of the MCCI:)

I sent him a link to this thread, maybe he'll get motivated and we'll make the roundup. I think he bought the car back in high school, from his uncle, who also had/has a yellow/black Comet GT with an automatic tranny.
