I was at the grocery store with my Maverick and ran into a guy that works for the same company I retired from, he is up here on assignment from one of the manufacturing plants in Brazil. He saw my car and was telling me how popular they are in Brazil. He said that a Maverick in clean original condition can go for as much as $50k US dollars there. So, a couple of questions; Why are they so popular in Brazil and are they really bringing that kind of price tag?
Only V8 models sold in Brazil were Dodge Dart, Ford Galaxie & Maverick. The V8 Maverick are fairly rare, engines imported from US. Doesn't take rocketry science to figure why prices are high. Most of the Brazilian Mavericks were built with Fords OHC 2.3, 4 cyl or a Willys 6 cyl. I doubt either of those will command prices anywhere near $50K. I think Dodges 318 was also imported, but the Galaxie 292(last used in US 1964), Willys 6 & 2.3 were mfg'd in Brazil. The 2.3L was imported to US for use in Mustang II.
