Got a 92 mustang coupe with a 98 4.6l 4v... It has an annoying tick to it... Replaced all 32 lifters/ lash adjusters and it fixed all but one tick... I used a stethoscope and all of lifters are now dead quiet but it sounds like the tick is coming from the intake manifold right behind the throttle body... Below is a video of the tick from all different angles... Someone please help

Exhaust leak...Or cracked flexplate. That engine does sound a bit loose, how many miles on it???

Egr has been deleted... It does quiet down slightly when put in gear but I think it's only because the rpm change... Mileage is unknown on the engine... But still pulls hard as an ox all through the rpm range... The tick goes away when revving hard then comes back as soon as you let off the throttle... It confusing me... Never heard a tick like it

lol nope its still a mustang

but no i havent had a couple days to mess with it... been working on gettin my license reinstated :(

but i pulled the intake off and found that the runners inside were very loosely installed and ticked together when just barely touched... now i just have to pull the lower part off too... disassemble the intake and put it back together with the correct epoxy... i think that might fix my tick..... hopefully lol

btw frank... that extractor stuck in the mavs block didnt break loose... gonna try to drill it again

food for thought. egr systems prevent detonation.
