i_am_jacks_e-mail@lycos.com I need to move the muffler because it's tapping the driveshaft and it makes unwanted noises, obiviously. I would also like to replace it while I'm at it. What would be the best kind or company to go with?
I've ran both Borla's and Flowmaster's on some of my rides. The 3 chamber flows sound nice and they last forever. I like to be different and used some Borla's on a built 302. They sounded awesome and had a more tunned exhaust note than that of the klackey-klack sound of the Flowmasters. The only thing with a fiberglass packed muffler is that they do get louder over time and eventually they will have to be replaced. A friend of mine wanted to get Borla's on his '70 Chevelle but the muffler man talked him out of it. All the chevy guys that I now think that Flow's are the best, but I'm a Ford guy and I just have to be different. I got some Borla's up on the shelf and one day they are going on my '73 Maverick.
Go with the Flows... I have no experience with Borola so I am recommending Flowmasters. Not only are thay great mufflers, but the company is in the the town next to mine. I have 2 Chamber, 40 Series, and they sound awesome if you like it loud. If not 3 Chamber is the way to go. -Corbin
dual muffs? Does anyone know if you can put double mufflers on a 70 mav. If so then are the pieces easy or hard to find?
Just go to any exhaust shop and have them do it. That way you get bigger piping from the engine back. a V8 can have 2 mufflers, but an inline 6 will only have 1. Go to an exhaust shop, you won't regret it.
