I just love the mustang bullit rims.
I want to use 17x9 front and 17x10.5 rear.
I know the back spacing is wrong and I will have to use spacers.
My tires will be 245/45/17 front and 315/35/17 rear.
Am I crazy to try this? I know the rear will not clear the 1/4 panels
but how close will the front rims be?

    Any one else try this?

Texas Mustang That should take you to the page with the Bullet Wheels. Those are made to fit the Classic Mustangs so they have the correct BS and dont require spacers. They only come in 17x8's though. Yeah a 17x10.5 is gonna need some massaging to get in there but it would be worth it. You could always find you a wider like 73 or so Mustang rear end then you might not have to use spacers for the rear. Then you could just buy a set of those 17x8's for the front and use the 245 tire and you should be good, if you want to stay away from spacers.

I have them on my Comet with 17x8 & 18x10. I have two extra 17x8 with about 200 miles on them before I took the tire off the rim. The 17x8 are the right backspacing for my car. I didnt us any spacers. There is enought room for the 17x10.5 but I did tube the car. There is a pic in the my gallery.

Just wanted to let you know of a wheel that will fit our cars. It's called RT5 by Wheel Tech. Comes in 17x7, 17x8, 17x9, 18x7, & 18x9. They have 4 inch backspaceing on 7 inch wide rim. I posted a pic in another thread about wheels so do a search for it.

Seems Maverick75 has stolen my image!! :) It is cool to have your car used as a GOOD example! Since my car was mentioned, here is how I did it. I have two 7/16" Mr Gasket wheel spacers PER wheel, thus 7/8". These wheels have too much backspacing to clear the upper balljoint up front and the leaf springs in the rear without spacing. I have 3" ARP (or Moroso??) studs all the way around. My wheels are from a 2002 Mustang, I'll have to check another thread from a few months ago I posted on the subject, but I think the backspacing is 5"+ or -
In regards to using a '73 Mustang rear . . . it ain't worth the trouble. If you go that extreme, NPD has a spacers kit made just for this exact application. "That is only my opinion, sir" :)
ok, check this link on the Dixie Maverick board http://www.dixiemaverick.com/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=4&pos=0
It is the NPD add for the spacer kit

Thank You all for your input. Im not sure what to do now. Street rod 77 I saw your other post with the photo of those rims, very nice ,do you have a web site for them? I can just google it.

I went to Texas Mustang and the rims will fit, but I wanted black bullit rims.
Thank you all, any one else have any ideas?

If you like those rims and don't want spacers, IMO the 71-73 Stang rear would be a good thing.
It bolts right in, and 9" rears for that car are common.
You kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak.
Get your common 9" rather than chasing a narrow one, and get the rims on back without a bunch of rigging.
If the front was only that easy...

This is a link to the company. They also have a Foose wheel that I think will fit but they are costly.http://www.musclecarsusa.com/

What about these wheels? They are deep dish and I was hoping they have a higher chance to fit with little or no spacers. Wheels

Well the 18x9's will not fit the front but http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/ can take an inch out out the rim to make it 18x8...this will be closer to fitting than a 9. I have the same 18x10's you will have to tub the car but they will fit.

Classic Stangs use a little more BS than Mavs.
I notice that these in the link are 4.5" BS...
We need spacers to run that BS on 15" rims...
Do these rims not need spacers because of the larger diameter?
I wouldn't have thought it, because the diameter is still less than the leaf springs are long.

    Thx
    Dave

A 17x8 with the 0 offset is what fits our cars as long as it is 8 inches wide. You can also use a 17x7 with 0 offset will fit also, but a 9 will not. 0 offset makes a 8 rim have 4.5 inches of backspacing & 7 wide will have around 4.25 backspacing. On my car I put 17x8 all around with 235/45 front & 255/45 rear, they fit with no mods. Then I lowered the car & tub it. I purchased two 18x10 rear rims that fit the 95+ model Mustangs & put the spare 17x8 up. The reason this is not the same for 15 inch rims is the most likly, the 15 want clear the suspesion but 17's do. If you got to an 18 in the front you will be able to have a little more than 4.5 inches of backspacing because it clears the whole spendle.

Everything said here about backspacing is correct, however I also found that the center hole on the Bullitt wheels is not bored large enough to fit over the front hub. I imagine using spacers would make this a moot point but I think I would look for other alternatives first if you don't already have the wheels.
