A friend of mine just scored a 1972 2door maverick with a 302 and auto. WE got thr car to my house and it didn't have an ignition lock so we were starting it by jumping the solenoid. I put in a new ignition cylinder and tried to crank it over and the warning lights on the dash lit up but the car did not crank. Now this car has a floor shifter but the column collar moves when the floor shifter is moved. On a setup like this is the neatral safety switch on the end of the column or by the shifter? how can I bypass the neutral safety switch so we can get this car going?
