Does anyone have a c4 tranny out of the car to get a close up pic of the area in the red box? Having a hard time describing some details to a machinist friend at work.

Not sure what you are looking for. The picture you have is pretty much all there is to that side of case, from right to left you have the low reverse servo, intermediate band adjuster screw, the nuetral safety switch with gear selector and kickdown lever. Far left corner of case has a small pipe plug to remove and screw in pressure gage. Can send you a schematic of this trans if you like or can get same from local library or a good trans repair book at most auto parts stores.

    That Shift Arm

    Rick,
Thank you for the images. That shift arm is exactly what I am looking for, is the shaft splined? where do you find one like that? Fab? Aftermarket shifter? Sold seperately?

    thx

    Guys,

I don't know nuttin 'bout the pacifics on this thang.

I've mostly only raced performance cars - not build them, but am learning more and more thanks to not having a job and with the help that you guys are providing me.

I'll have to ask the builder (well-known and respected guy in Houston) to answer the q's unless someone else on here already knows the answers. (read as "please help?")

The lever may have come with the B&M "Quick Click' shifter. It isn't splined, BTW (as far as I could tell).

Ya might want to refer the picture to some of the early Mustang guys (say, on www.mustangsandmore.com) to see if they can identify it.

RE: Correct Position of Neutral Safety Switch?

    I dunno.... gulp!

This means I'm going to get mangled the first time out, doesn't it!

I'll follow-up with more info as I obtain it.

The lever doesn't look like it'd be that difficult to fabricate.

If anyone needed it, I could create detail drawing of it.

An out-of-focus close-up of the lever:

Thanks Rick that close up really helps, I could probably whip somethin' like that up...

BTW it doesn't compare to the tough lookin mavs I have seen on this board but it's my baby. 1st car after two motorcycles, bought it in '97 for $600 . Keepin my eyes open for a '72 2dr.

Thanks Jerry, this is a great forum. Glad to find other Maverick fans out there besides myself. I have lost count the # of times people who just don't understand say "why don't you just get a mustang?" why?? THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!

    I'm glad the pictures helped.

BTW, looks like you've got a head-start on a nice ride. There's plenty of guys on this site who'd like to have theirs in that shape (me included).

Keep up the good work and good luck on finding your toodoor!
