    Hi everyone,

I have been trying to find out if it is true that a grille from a Comet OR Maverick from the years '71-'75 will all fit the '72 Comet. Does anyone know this answer?

The reason I am asking is, obviously I need a grille for this car and I am having trouble matching the exact year and make. I have found a few a couple of years ahead, or from the Maverick, but don't want to buy them if they won't work.

Thanks everyone for any help you can give me...I would ask the men in my family, but it's kind of a surprise.

Maverick won't work. The Comet grill from 71 to 73 should, however I don't know about the 74-77 ones. The maverick one will fit, but doesen't have the center bulge to match the hood line. It wouldn't look right.

all Comet grills, just like all Maverick grills, are interchangable.

Thanks for the responses...so does that mean that I can put any comet grille on any comet, and any maverick grille on any maverick, just not on eachother?

One of the salvage yards that I have contacted told me that they could be used for either one. I just want to be positive about what I am looking for and buying. I would like to think that people in the parts business would know what they are talking about, but maybe not???

    Thanks!

Jennifer; the Maverick grille will work in a Comet, but you have to have all the associated stuff...hood, bumper, filler panel, etc. to make it look good. I have a Comet, a '71, with a Mav grille, and none of the other stuff. It looks terrible, and incomplete. If you have to get it going, it would be ok, but not to look good. Just my $.02. Good luck.
