I just went in the muffler shop in hopes of getting a new exhaust system for my mav. But the problem was the gas tank is not in the center of the car , therefore there wouldn't be room for the left side tailpipe to come out of since I want duals. Im curious how did other people get duels on there maverick? Would I have to take it to a place so they can center it for me ? also I heard some people just replaced it with an early mustang tank , would that work on my 73'?

If you have a 1973 gas tank.....you have room for duals. Might need to find another shop.

Yeah it's tight but its done all the time.I used a kit for mustangs and modified it alittle right at home on my 70 and 77. So a actual shop should be able to do it I would think.

Going over the rear axle, mine go outboard of the frame rails. It gets tight around the shocks, but can be done.

I sense some interesting bends in the exhaust pipe as it goes by the shocks. Would you happen to have any other shots of it? Thanks.

Why after you spent time centering your tank would you put truck tailpipes that exit right behind the tires ? When you made room to go all the way out the back then didn't even use it.

I think I'm getting claustrophobic! lol

Pictures like these sure make me glad that I don't mind cutting, grinding, and welding to make things fit a little better.
