I had one mine was a 94 it was a great truck, but boy was it expensive to work on.....

Had the AC compressor seize 4 months after I bought it...(I bought it in the winter never thought to check it then) at a cost of $600 at the time then the alternator went out shortly after, $250 (this was in 1999) went to that. Put it in 4 Lo while pulling a trailer up in the hills and it stuck in lo gear, the plastic vacum lines that enguage the four wheel drive had detireorated and broke at a cost of $380 from the dealer. After that I didn't have any problems with mine. The owner that has is now has 250000+ on that truck and has not had to do as much work as I have had. It gets better fuel economy then the new trucks and if it is taken care of it can easily go 300000+ miles.

sounds like a good deal to me. new desiels cant get the type of milage due to having a particulate filter in the exhast. the only problem ive heard of with those trucks is the pic up pump in the tank gets week and causes the fuel pump on the motor to fail and those cost around $1300.00. there is a aftermarket fuel pump fllter assembly that goes on the frame rail that is suspsed to prevent this.
