I was wondering if anyone knew how to wire up a 67 Mustang neutral safety switch to a Maverick (73) wiring harness. I remember someone said they would try it a couple months ago, but I never heard anything back. Has anyone done this? The Maverick plug has six wires to it, and the Mustang floor shift neutral switch has four. I want to hook this up so I can have reverse lights in the dark (and obviously so it doesn't start in gear) If no one has done it, can someone direct me to someone who has? Thanks.

Humm... No answers. I know some people have done the same exact swap as me. Have any of you wired up the neutral switch, or is it just disconnected like mine. If no one can tell me how to do it, can someone tell me what wires are what on the Maverick plug, and the Mustang neutral switch plug? Thanks guys.

This sounds like something you can likely figure out by toying with Corbin.

Once upon a time I owned a 67 mustang. The neutral safety switch went out on me. Naturally, being broke at the time I just wired it to bypass the safety switch. I can tell you that the switch is located under the shifter between the seats, bolts to the top of the tranny, and a single wire right at the firewall connects under the hood. Anyway, the device is not very difficult, and since you now have a floor shift, it should be easy to connect. The wiring diagrams of the 67 stang are pretty basic, as is the maverick. Pull up both wiring diagrams and grab the switch from the 67. I bet you it won't take you long to get it hooked up!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Jeremy. I guess I will take it upon myself to figure out how to wire it up. Once I get somewhere I will let you guys know. Chances are it won't be for a while though, because it will be in the shop a while. Later.

I sat down the other night and came up with the answer for my dilemma - on paper anyway. I haven't tried it on the Mav yet because it will be gone for a while. I will let everyone know what and how I did it (after it gets back) if anyone is interested.
