We have been working with Auto Krafters in getting a NEW reproduction of the Maverick 302 fan shroud. After inspection and verifying fit, we are pleased to announce this new part.

1970-1977 Ford Maverick/1971-1977 Mercury Comet V-8 fan shroud.
    Part # is D1DZ-8146A

This is a shroud for an AC car. A non AC car shroud is different. The "tunnel" on a non AC car is deeper. This one will work on both cars. There are no current plans to make the Non-AC shroud.

Our observations when compared to an original factory shroud:
    1. It is not as "thick" as far as the material used to make it.
    2. It has a smooth, shiny appearance when compared to a factory piece.
    3. Some of the seams and "lines" in the casting are not present like on an original shroud
    4. It is made, from a cast mold, of injected plastic

This looks like a really nice piece and fits and will work just fine. It has a nicer appearance than the other repops that were made a few years back for this shroud. I think buyers will be more than happy with this piece. Auto Krafters wanted to make a better part than what was available in fiberglass and we think they accomplished that.

Best part? Only $119.95 with attaching hardware. This is $30.00 less than the previous available fiberglass unit they sold, and of course the part is much nicer.

Auto Krafters should have them in stock and ready to ship in 10 -14 days.

Pictures will be in the next issue of the MCCI "Shorthorns" newsletter.

They do not as we are in possession of the one and only prototype made (we used it to verify that it fits).

The picture Brian posted is the old fiberglass one they used to sell. The NEW one looks way better.

While it is "thinner" than the original, we would not classify it as "thin". Very durable and we speculate less prone to breakage due to the materials used.

Gotta ask ; Why is ' Thinner ' less prone to breakage due to materials used .. WHAT is the material . If if were metal I'd agree .. But if its plastic or fiberglass ??

Well it's good they are finally being reproduced. I bought one many years ago from a bone yard for $15 in perfect condition. Now you're lucky if you can even find one, and then it's gonna cost $100+ .

I would say it is less prone to breakage due to being made of plastic instead of the previous shroud made of fiberglass. Nothing to do with it being thinner. We speculate that the Ford piece was thicker due to the material used back in the early 1970's.
