I just became the owner of a 74 Comet 4 door with 61k original miles. I thought I would check out this board and see what I can learn about my car from other Maverick/ Comet owners.
It is a great running car and I really enjoy driving it. Hey it is a 4 door, and would of loved to have a 2 door, but we all know that one of the most famous Maverick of all times with the Gap & Roush Teawana Taxi pro stock racer.:D
Hope to meet some new friends
    Matt

We almost moved to Casa Grande a few years ago. I love it there. I got to know that town back in 1990 and 91 because I put on two Model Car Contests there, and we were treated great by the chamber of commerce.
What class are you runnig in? I have wanted to check out Tucson raceway. I live in the northwest part of Phoenix, so I usally go out to Speedworld in Wittman Az. I love that track because it is old and still like the way tracks were in the late 60s and 70s.
The car we were racing, and rebuilding to race again would not make us commrades at the track. LOL:D It is a 71 Camaro
A few years ago we almost bought a 73 Grabber. It was nice, but the engine had allot of blowby when I took the breather off. So we did not go with it. I was a hard dession to make. We really have always wanted a Maverick or Comet. We were needing a car to drive at the time.

Thanks Neil. I do not have a pic yet, but I soon will. Not really much to see, yet. Not sure what to do to it yet. I have a good friend that is the painter at a Macco, that told me that if I come do, and have the car ready for paint. I just pay for the cheap job, he will use the top of the line paint, and do a real nice job for me. It is the light blue. I will keep it the factory color, because I do not want to do the jams.

hi matt, i race in the street class. as far as i'm concerned that is where the most fun is at. i'd hate to get to serious. i raced at the wild west shootout last year in november at speedworld. liked the track, but the people that ran it and i didn't see eye to eye so they told me i was right but it was there track and if i didn't like it to load my car on the trailer and don't come back. so i haven't been back. there's a good race in tucson on feb. 14,15,16. sponsored by dragraceresults.com. lots of cars from az, nev, calif, n.m., and other places. it's a fun track. its about 85 miles from me speedworld is 102. gotta go for now. see ya.:)
