You get what you pay for. :D

On things like distributors, I would buy one locally. That way when you have a problem, a lot easier to rectify.

But with that being said, I did buy mine off of ebay. :)
It was a brand new Pertronix distributor and I bought it on ebay from Auto Krafters.

I bought a new screen for my laptop from some guy with 99.7% positive and 175,000 sales. I needed it NOW so I paid $40 extra for OVERNIGHT shipping.

That was Monday morning. I am still waiting for this long night to end, and that screen to arrive.

I have emailed and they keep saying it shipped, gave me a shipping number, but when I put it into the USPS site, it says

So it sounds like they arranged for overnight shipping, but left it on their warehouse floor for the past three days.

They are now offering to refund me the extra shipping I paid, but I really need the screen. Not a refund. This is for my work laptop...

Same thing happened to me. I paid for fast delivery and it wasn't shipped till a week later.:(

The major retail outfits like Summit provide good Internet service; the small time Internet businesses are a crap shoot.

Just think how long it would have taken if you didn't pay for the fast delivery...

I'm still having good luck with ebay motors. But I usually buy big items, or stuff you can't find in parts stores or salvage yards.

Stuff like distributors, stock or performance, I'll usually buy from a local parts store, or online directly from the distributor.

Ebay isn't always the cheapest though. I was shopping for a set of new American Torq-Thrusts. After comparing all the different source's prices and shipping on ebay, I found a performance wheel and tire distributor on the net that beat all the ebayer's price by nearly $100 with free shipping.

I've had my bad phase with ebay....a stretch where I had several deadbeat bidders, and a couple of sellers who couldn't be bothered shipping what I bought and paid for.

But overall, it works well for me, and I'm still ebaying

    Who did you buy from???
You don't always get "get what you pay for" that's a nonsensical quip..
Ebay rocks..great marketplace. I stay away from the big generic spammer autopart ebay stores. I buy when I've verified part #s and when there is a good description, and actual pics, no generic pics.. I have three cars, no time for junk yards. I look for NOS parts. Most autoparts stores sell chinese and mexican junk.. NAPA is probably the best of them. Check the sellers feedback.. I like old NOS Bendix, Wagner, Raybestos, Moog, EIS...etc..

The tracking system from USPS is terrible. It only updates once a day. That said, I have items that never updated and just arrived.

When I purchased the part, it said "arrival by Wednesday, 9/5/12". Here it is 9/8/12 and no part.

But, yes, the usps tracking system is worthless.
