I received an e-mail with this info from fellow Maverick owner Greg Sucheski and wanted to pass it on: A Good Ground Can Improve Your Horsepower!!
Thats interesting although you have 10 bolts in each head giving metal to metal contact that should provide amble ground.
RE: 10 bolts I use sealant on ALL my head bolts (to help equalize amount of torque on all studs). Hmmm....me now remembers a ground wire from head(s) to frame more than a few times on new vehicles!
I have heard that one before and it has just never panned out for me when I am trouble shooting a miss . But I always make sure even though it never makes a difference
Thats interesting.... As some of you may remember from years past, I was having all kinds of trouble with my starter staying engaged. The battery is relocated to the truck and I had it grounded there. After talking to FordMan earlier this year, I ran a ground strap from the block to the frame and then I also ran a ground from my starter (maybe overkill) but I do not have that trouble anymore.
I was working on a buddy's 73 bronco, and he had the negative cable grounded to the header bolt....I didn't think that was the best place. It worked though.
