As some know I am in the process of building a new race motor for my mav. My question is about the oil pan. I am going to go with a Canton or Moroso 7 or 8 qt. pan. So here are the questions: Will a rear pick-up clear my steering(manual)? What is the deepest pan the you have used on your car(clearance)? Also I am using a girdle, which pan works best with it without having to modify the girdle? Thanks!

Everything I've heard is that you have to use a front sump because a rear sump will not clear the crossmember or steering linkage.

NO rear pick up will not work it will hit cross memember. Roush used a canton windage tray on my motor which was good for 10 horses at the crank on the dyno. I pulled off the canton late model mustang pan and I used a Milodon 7 quart oil pan part number 30925. As far as clearance... my car is slamed and it still clears.. just need to becareful on speed bumps. What ever you do don't use a road race pan with side sumps... it will not clear the bottom of the shock towers unless you cut them. I will post pic later on tonight. Good Luck.

I have used the Moroso deep sump on both a 302 and 351c in my Maverick. The car sits a little low in front, but I have never had clearance issues or fitment problems.
